Sinf e Aahan has been making headlines for all the right reasons. Primarily, because the drama aims to break stereotypes and is different from the usual content that we get to watch on television. And secondly, the fantastic performances by the cast make it extremely entertaining and interesting. This is also model turned actor Junaid Jamshaid Niazi’s debut drama and his first appearance as Shaishta’s (Yumna Zaidi) fiancé (Kamil) has already won millions of hearts.

The actor has become an overnight star and has been trending on social media. Fans have already declared him and co-actor Yumna as their new favourite onscreen couple.

We reached out to Junaid to find out more about his transition from modelling to acting and how he feels to be a part of Sinf e Aahan.

Speaking of how he landed with this role, Junaid reveals that it all happened by chance. “I didn’t know about this role. One day I just went to meet Humayun bhai in his office. I was lucky that Sana Shahnawaz and Nadeem Baig were also there and when they saw me they realised that maybe I am the right person to play Kamil’s character.”

Junaid shared that he was asked to give an audition the same day. “I was fortunate enough that after 3 or 4 days I got a confirmation call. And who would deny an opportunity to work with one of the biggest production houses and with the best director,” he said.

Junaid expressed that he still cannot believe that he got such a great opportunity.

“Honestly, I still can’t believe that I got a chance to do my debut with such big names and an experienced cast. I am happy and humbled!” he said adding that he’s grateful for the love he has received so far.

“The kind of love and appreciation I have received for my first scene is mind-blowing. I am sure people are going to love more in the upcoming episodes.”

The actor also shared that initially, he was a bit nervous, and rightly so. Any new actor would be considering Sinf e Aahan is a huge project with such a powerful and star-studded cast.

“Yumna Zaidi is a star,” he confessed. “I was a little nervous on the set but after meeting Yumna and the way she supported me and guided me, it made it a lot easier for me to perform.”

He gives credit to Yumna for their on-screen chemistry. “And eventually, we were able to create that kind of chemistry on screen which ALHAMDULILLAH people are loving.”

Impressed by Yumna personally and professionally, Junaid expressed that he has become her fan. “I found her a very humble and sweet person. No doubt, she is a versatile actor and I rate her 10/10.”

Over the years several models have transitioned to acting, however, not many prove to be great actors. Judging from Junaid’s powerful screen presence in the previous episode, he has created high expectations.

“I had an amazing experience. I got a chance to learn a lot on the set,” he shared adding that acting and modelling are very different.

“Acting is way more challenging than modelling. One has to understand the character, his emotions and his thinking and adapt to all of this. You have to immerse in the character’s mind. This needs a lot of energy and hard work,” he explained. However, each field has its own charm. “I enjoy acting and modelling both.”

Speaking of Sinf e Aahan, he shared that the drama has the potential to bring a positive change in society.

“The drama is basically about breaking stereotypes and proving to the society that females are no less than males. They can do wonders if they are passionate and determined. Sinf e Aahan tackles tough social issues in a very beautiful way which will create awareness and I am sure will break the silence on taboos by initiating dialogue on a domestic level.”

This is just the beginning and Junaid hopes to make his mark in the industry. The actor is open to bigger and better opportunities; films and dramas. “There is a long long way to go. My only plan is to work harder and to become one great actor!” he concluded.
