Osama Karamat, a rapper from Rawalpindi also known as OCL (Osama Com Laude) is all set to make his acting debut with
Umro Ayyar that also stars Faran Tahir, Sanam Saeed, Usman Mukhtar, Ali Kazmi, Adnan Siddiqui, Seemi Raheel and the legendary Manzar Sehbai.
As revealed in the official post,
Umro Ayyar is all about “…a magical land and evil jinns, of ancient lore and fights within, of modern visions and tales of glory!”
Umro Ayyar is scheduled to release in 2022, possibly as Pakistan’s first superhero/fantasy flick. While Osama couldn’t share too many details, he did reveal this this would be his first acting project and he is very excited.
“It has been a year now that we have completed shooting for this film and it still feels like a dream,” he shared in an exclusive chat with
Something Haute. “Having to make my acting debut, my first acting project to be exactly like I wanted is a freaking dream come true.”
“Not many people get to have that dream project in their first go,” he said adding that he is extremely grateful.
“Even if I have to retire after
Umro Ayyer, I will be grateful because I can point to that project and screen and say I was part of that,” Osama said, adding that it was an honor for him to be part of such a huge cast. “It was like an acting buffet daily. I was like a student at an all-star acting school.”
Osama is certain that this film will be a Lollywood gamechanger when it comes out. However, with him inclined towards acting, one wonders about his growth as a rapper and musician. Will he be making more music, or will his focus shift entirely to acting?
“As far as 2022 is concerned, my plan is to stick to singles. I do not want to stop since music is my ultimate outlet,” he answered, expressing that he has no plans to put music on hold for acting or the other way round.
“It is one space where I can just jump in, do, and say whatever because everything is in my control. I think that is the beauty of being an independent artist. As far as hip hop in concerned, the way it is taking off in the country and how everyone is jumping on the trend, I think now is the time to showcase better hip hop and rap, especially with all the brands involved,” he added.
“You’ll notice rappers are more protective when it comes to hip hop. I think the art form is something I would love to be and continue to be at the forefront, considering I am one of the original guys to do it in the country first,” Osama continued.
“So yes, the goal is two singles per month and I will be doing all sorts of flavors and genres when it comes to within hip hop itself.”
