Bhangra tunes, matka beats & tumbi shine out in ‘Neray Neray Vas’

The song features SOCH The Band and Butt Brothers
The hype of Coke Studio Season 14 is at an all-time high as the season is continuously offering amazing tunes one after the other. The most recent one to shook us is the fifth song of the season — Neray Neray Vas — featuring SOCH The Band and Butt Brothers. With pure Punjabi lyrics, the song is so rooted in the Punjabi culture that no one could have done justice to the tune other than SOCH and Butt Brothers. Neray Neray Vas originated as a mellow number by SOCH The Band in mid 2000s, however, Xulfi and Action Zain at Coke Studio transformed the song into a bhangra-style track and we can’t be more pleased. Fused with pure desi music style, which is a rarity in contemporary music, Neray Neray Vas is fun, playful yet very meaningful if one hears the lyrics with attention. A harmonium, tumbi and matka situate the tune firmly in Punjab, while Coke Studio signature chimtas add the much-needed whip to the song. Adnan Dhool and Rabi Ahmed impresses us with the first half of the song, and the Butt Brothers convincingly come in to answer the pleas with a chorus. By the looks of it, the song appears to be an exchange of dialogues between two passionate lovers and this group of well-meaning boys depict those good times. Neray Neray Vas has an infectious energy that will make you dance to the beat. Watch it here: The song has garnered some great reaction from fans across the globe. One even called it a “banger”. Some praised the diversity. A user believe that this song will make it to the soundtrack of a Bollywood film, and we endorse but why not a Pakistani film? This is what one user was waiting for!
