Emmy Awards 2022: The award show makes a grand comeback after a two year hiatus

Here is what happened at the 74th Emmy Awards.
The biggest award show on television, The 74th annual Emmy Awards, took place on 12th September in a packed studio audience at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. This marked the end of a two-year hiatus from the virtual hosting of the ceremony due to the pandemic. The three-hour telecast was a treat to watch. Celebrities graced the red carpet with their marvelously done looks. While there were many repeated winners from the previous years there were also some underdog winners that made our hearts swell with pride. Host Kenan Thompson did a great job with the opening ceremony; he lead a troupe of  dancers to remixes of the theme songs from Friends, The Brady Bunch, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Stranger Things, and Game of Thrones.

Talking about some of the winners of this year, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver won outstanding variety talk series for the seventh consecutive year. Julia Garner also bagged the award for supporting actress again for Ozark, and Brett Goldstein also won the best supporting actor in a comedy series for Ted Lasso once again. Some history was also made! Netflix’s Squid Game star Lee Jung-Jae became the first Asian actor to ever win lead actor in a drama and Zendaya bagged the award of lead actress in a drama series for Euphoria, which makes her the youngest two-time winner of any Emmy in history and also the first Black woman to win lead actress in a drama. Way to go girl!
