Kahay Dil Jidhar starring Junaid Khan as a cop and Mansha Pasha as a fearless journalist is all set to release in cinemas across Pakistan on Dec 17th, 2021. Singer turned actor Junaid made a cameo in Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed’s film Bin Roye and has delivered several hit dramas. He has already made it big in the television industry, and now, we’ll see how he performs on the big screen.
According to the makers, the film promises a ‘journey of friendships, life transformation and self-discovery’ and Junaid seems highly optimistic about the project.
“We had been impatiently waiting for the cinemas to reopen. We had completed Kahay Dil Jidhar and for the last two years, we have been waiting to release our film,” the actor shared in an exclusive chat with Something Haute.
“Since the revival of Pakistani cinema, I was being offered films. However, due to one reason or another, I was never convinced,” he shared adding that Kahay Dil Jidhar offered him the “right package”
Junaid shared that’s he has already worked with the director and the experience has always been amazing. “Jalal has shot music videos for my band. I already had a personal and professional interaction with him. Secondly, it’s a great script and my character is a very strong character.”
What Junaid seems to like most about the film is that despite aiming to give a message and address a social issue, it isn’t preachy.
“Drug abuse is a prevalent issue among the youth and it was an important topic to be touched. However, Kahay Dil Kidhar is an entertainer. There is dance, there is music, there is action and there is everything. It is basically a fun package that I couldn’t say no to.”
The actor has faith in the film and doesn’t believe that people should only come and watch the film to support Pakistani cinema. “Come to see a side of me that you haven’t seen on television. The film is an entertainer and you will be entertained,” he said assuring that it is a paisa vasool film. “The ticket prices have increased and people are spending their hard-earned money.”
Recently, the mixed reviews received by Khel Khel Mein triggered a debate on social media. It was also suggested that film critiques should let the audience decide for themselves.
When ticket prices at major multiplexes have increased to Rs 900 per person, many felt asking the audience to watch every movie only to support the industry is an unreasonable desire. When asked if reviewers should have the freedom to critique a movie, Junaid also shared his views.
“I have mixed thoughts about this. We all check reviews when we buy a product, book a hotel or a vacation. People have to spend money so they have to see if it’s worth it or not. However, a product or service can be fixed based on reviews. But once a film is released, it’s out there and there’s nothing you can do about it. If not more, I would like the reviewers to hold their reviews for the first few days so the filmmakers at least have a chance to bring the audience to the cinema. The audience might even like the movie.”
