Pakistani-American singer Arooj Aftab has provided us another occasion to celebrate. The two-time Grammy nominee was recently featured on Times Square Billboard as Spotify’s Ambassador for EQUAL Pakistan.
As per Spotify’s statement, the popular streaming service’s initiative, EQUAL, aims to celebrate women creators by giving them a platform to share their content with the world.
The official Spotfity Pakistan’s account shared a picture and praised her achievement.

Arooj Aftab, who recently performed Mehram in Coke Studio season 14, is now representing women creators of Pakistan at a global level. As part of the initiative, Spotify’s EQUAL Artist of the Month will be featured on a rotational basis on the digital billboard advertisement in New York’s Times Square, USA.
The singer also shared a picture on her Instagram in which she is sitting like a boss lady in front of the digital billboard.

“All day, only today, on rotation, at every New Yorkers favorite hang, Times Square. Thank you Spotify and Spotify Pakistan, this is definitely epic,” she wrote in the caption.
Many Pakistani artists like Meesha Shafi, Sanam Saeed, Ali Gul Pir and Mira Sethi rooted for her in the comments section.
The singer also made history by being the first-ever Pakistani singer to perform at the American art and music festival, Coachella. Earlier in 2019, Ali Sethi was featured on the big screens of New York City’s iconic Times Square before Christmas season. The musician revealed that from December 15 to 21, a video titled Future Tradition celebrating the work of Pulitzer Prize-winning Chinese composer Du Yun, her global collaborators along with Ali will run twice a day on 13 screens, and 16 times.View this post on Instagram
