The Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) has announced the winners in two categories. Umair Jaswal won the PISA Youth Icon of the Year Award 2020 while the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award (Music) 2020 was awarded to Singer Hasan Raheem.

“Hasan Raheem broke out in 2020 as the face of a new sonic, lyrical and visual sensibility that is ready to take over our musical landscape,” states PISA. “With at least five original releases during the calendar year, grabbing the attention of opinion makers and younger listeners alike, Raheem has shown that there has hardly been a better time for upcoming, independent artists to find and consolidate their audiences.”
Hasan is one of the artists featured on the banner of Spotify’s independent and trending music category for Pakistan.
Originally from Gilgit, he had moved to Karachi to study to be a doctor and has been doing concerts in both Karachi and his native region.
Winners across all categories are decided by online voting, with an exception of the PISA Special Awards which include the PISA Youth Icon of the Year Award 2020 and the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award 2020.
This year’s show is scheduled to take place at the glamorous Madinat Jumeirah venue, Dubai, on November 5, 2021.
