The 4 episode docu-series is directed by Adnan Sarwar and produced by Nina Kashif. It is a heartfelt throwback to some of the most memorable moments in the cricket history of Pakistan.

Producer Nina Kashif shares why it is pertinent to retell these stories. “For those who were born in the 90s, winning the 1992 Cricket world cup is a fable. We are in the fourth decade since. It is, therefore, considered important for Generation Z and Alpha to know how it happened. “Cornered Tigers tells the tale, by the heroes who made it possible. Unrelenting resolve, focused commitment and sturdy belief in their leadership was what Pakistan team was made of! An apolitical story, told by those who wrote it,” says Nina Kashif. The power of leadership Viewers are in for a rollercoaster ride as Pakistan faces formidable opponents, overcomes unexpected defeats, and eventually makes it to the knockout stages. The docu-series sheds light on the team’s unwavering belief in their abilities, their unwavering support for one another, and the pivotal role of their captain, Imran Khan, whose leadership and inspiration united the team.

The legendary cricketers who were a part of the playing squad in 1992 express their excitement about the series. “All over the world people still remember us and every moment of our unbelievable journey. It’s a lovely feeling to be part of the winning world cup squad,” says Mushtaq Ahmed. “Our  captain used to tell me, ‘look I am using you as a striker, not the container’. Whatever I am today, a lot of it comes from his mentorship,” Mushtaq Ahmed remembers Imran Khan’s iconic captaincy. “1992 was the turning point in my career, even when I was not in form, my captain always encouraged me, and I think that spirit derived us to victory,” says Inzimam Ul Haq. Aspirational stories The documentary series is about to unveil stories that we rarely hear as cricketing legends share anecdotes of the experiences that shaped their lives and cricketing careers. Read on… “I started following cricket in 1992 and it gradually became a passion, passion became profession and then it became a part of my breathing process,” shares Shoaib Akhtar. “People think it was Imran Khan who discovered me, but it’s actually the legend Javed Miandad who spotted by potential and changed my life,” says Wasim Akram.

“A few players remained out-standing throughout the world cup, especially, Wasim Akram, Mushtaq Ahmed and even Aqib Javed bowled well. The anchor role was that of Javed Miadad. Out of 10 Matches he scored Seven 50’s, his energy moved us,” Moin Khan shares.

“Me and Ian Botham still have our difference of opinion over a wicket, and now our dispute is part of history,” Moin Khan adds and says, “Hitting the winning six and four in the semifinal against New Zealand was an epic moment. I played patiently and was able to achieve exactly what our team needed.” Ejaz Ahmed reflects on his childhood fascination with the sport. “Throughout my childhood, I was fascinated by Cricket, be it my school or ground, no day would pass without playing cricket. Little did I know one day I’ll be part of the greatest cricket victory of Pakistan,” says Ejaz Ahmed.
